Paul Stanley responds to criticism that KISS farewell tour is taking forever | Q104.3

Paul Stanley never wanted his tenure with KISS to extend into a 50th year or for the band’s “End of the Road” farewell tour to continue four years after it was announced, but he says they have good reasons.

First, nearly two years of “End of the Road” shows have been postponed due to COVID; the band kicked off the world tour in 2019 and intended to wrap it up in New York City by summer 2021.

But Kiss’s Starchild admits in a conversation with Yahoo! entertainment that since the pandemic, the group has booked more shows than they originally planned.

“The fact that we not only survived, but thrived is pretty special,” Stanley said of Kiss’ half-century in business. “I’m glad we’re still here. I’m glad the fans are still here. The fans seem happy we’re still here.”

While Kiss plans to hit the road again this spring and film at least this summer, Stanley admits the end of “the end of the road” is near, despite the lack of public commitment regarding where and when.

“This tour, oddly enough, seems to go on forever,” Stanley added. “It’s because we lost two years to COVID. People say, ‘Oh my God. This tour…” Well, yeah, two years ago that didn’t count. And it’s a huge world. So there were a few countries that I thought we were done with, and the fans and promoters wanted us to come back, so we have shows to do.

“The end is in sight more than some people realize. But we will have an announcement about that in the not too distant future.”

At the time of this article, the final live date on Kiss’ itinerary is July 15 in Norway. But Stanley confirmed that the group planned to perform in the United States beyond that, adding “it would make sense if we ended where we started”.

Kiss formed in Queens, New York, and held its first rehearsals in a vermin-infested apartment. It’s safe to say, though, that the frontman is considering a bigger venue for his final show, possibly one in Manhattan.
