Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) was pressed during an appearance on Fox News whether President Joe Biden deserved blame for the disastrous pullout from Afghanistan, which the congresswoman refused to acknowledge though. that she called it the saddest moment of the Presidents administration so far.

Fox News host Griff Jenkins spoke with Dingell on Saturday and presented a recent report on the 2021 exit from Afghanistan, in which 13 military personnel lost their lives in the chaotic race and the Taliban quickly took over the power. A recent report found officials blamed the chaotic exit on the previous administration, which negotiated initial terms for an exit from the country after two decades.

What is the share of responsibility of President Biden, the commander-in-chief during this withdrawal, what share of responsibility does he attribute to him for the disaster? Jenkins asked Dengell, noting that the report blamed former President Donald Trump and his officials for the disastrous pullout.

Look, I think that was a moment that has been one of the saddest times these administrations have had since they’ve been around, Dingell said.

She mentioned that the pullout policy started with Trump, although the lawmaker said she didn’t want to blame anyone.

The withdrawal policy began under President Trump. Both presidents thought that was what we had to do. I don’t think anyone can feel good about what they saw that day, Dingell said.

Jenkins tried to press once more, asking if the blame should end with Biden.

Does the blame stop with Biden on this disaster? He asked.

I believe the way it happened and the 13 soldier lives that were lost was one of the saddest moments for me during his administration, she said. He was the commander in chief then, but let’s be very clear, this policy started under the previous administration and instead of pointing fingers, which I don’t want to do, I mean what are we going to do to stay strong ?

Although she mentioned the Trump administration several times, Dingell insisted she didn’t want to shift the blame and said there was too much division, too much finger pointing, [and] too this person, this person is currently going through.
