Housing activists privately raged that Gov. Kathy Hochul is a racist who doesn’t like immigrants during a mass virtual call to discuss stalled state budget negotiations.

The April 11 strategy session was sponsored by Housing Justice for All, which is pushing for good cause legislation to limit rent hikes in apartments across the state and support a new housing voucher program. , to help the homeless and tenants facing eviction.

Activists have claimed that Hochul, which has its own plan to spur the construction of 800,000 affordable housing units in and around New York, is delaying its programs for pet renters.

Governor Hochul does not like [Housing Justice For All] because she does not want everyone who is included in this program to be included. That includes undocumented people, people with felony convictions, said Ritti Singh, a staff member at the organization, according to a recording of the event by an attendee that was provided to The Post.

We know Governor Hochul is really conservative and she’s really, you know, racist. She doesn’t like immigrants. She doesn’t like people who’ve been, you know, in jail. So she really, really fought against it, Singh charged.

Another event attendee, Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition housing organizer Julie Colon, said: She [Hochul] hates immigrants and she hates the poor. And it’s like, demonstrated like through, you know, how she’s conducted her career, the things that she’s done.

Bronx attendee Darryl McPherson told Hochul that Hochul was a disappointment saying she looked a lot like her predecessor, the disgraced ex-governor. Andrew Cuomo.

Kathy Hochul depended solely on progressives to get elected [last year]and she has no conscience, he said.

McPherson also complained that Hochul used money from the Seneca Nation tribe and gave it to her friend Terry Pegula, owner of the Buffalo Bills, to fund a new Bills stadium.

Other attendees included representatives from VOCAL-NY, Citizen Action, the Democratic Socialists of America and Make the Road.

Genesis Aquino, new Mayor Eric Adams appointed to the Rent Guidelines Board, was present but did not speak.

Hochul was hit on both sides, with other attendees saying the governor was too generous to migrants over legal residents.

Renette Bradley, a member of Housing Justice For All, expressed frustration that migrants are being given housing in New York while Hochul opposes the housing voucher program for people who are already here.

They bring them in, they have people coming in and they give them accommodation, and we have people who are already there. It is not fair. And I fight. I am going to fight[Hochul] against that, Bradley said.

Another member wrote a note in the chat section during the meeting, she [Hochul] help all the Venezuelan people.

Film producer Charlie Dibe, who identified himself as a member of Communist PartyUSA Housing, offered to bombard Governor Hochuls’ Twitter account with continued Hochul shaming.

Others approved of the jamming of the governors’ Twitter account.

Governor Hochul has proposed the New York Housing Compact to create 800,000 new homes over the next decade, has committed billions of dollars to affordable housing and rental assistance, and is actively working with the legislature on a budget that addresses our housing crisis and meets the needs of New Yorkers. the governor’s office said in a statement to the Post.

Meanwhile, activists bragged about bullying lawmakers into signing the eviction bill for a good cause by threatening to protest outside their homes and shaming homeowners’ defenders.

Senator Andrew Gonardes. He wasn’t on Good Cause, but we knocked him down and told him if he signed we wouldn’t go to his house. So, I guess he didn’t want us there, so he signed, Bradley from Housing Justice for All.

Several attendees, including DSA member Andrew Hiller, said their favorite moment was shaming Real Estate Board of NY Chairman Jim Whelan.

So we caught him having lunch by himself, and we had a crowd of about 50 people to like, you know, start singing shame and we walked past him. We literally booed him all the way down the hall and Albany and he went to hide behind security. So it was a really good time, Singh said.

Sarah Lazur of Crown Heights Tenants Union, a professor of French at Barnard College, expressed her contempt for members of Small Property Owners of New York in the chat section, saying she knew where one of the members lived and that she would like to knock over her garbage cans.

Another participant replied, I would like to kick this box and its owner too.

Organizers of Housing Justice For All have solicited suggestions for tactics to lobby lawmakers to support putting a good cause eviction in the budget. One participant suggested redecorating their offices.

What else do we have? Friends redecorating their offices. It’s a good one, said Colon.
