Atlanta, Georgia –

Tyrese was ordered to pay his ex-wife nearly $650,000 by a judge he publicly called a racist.

The Fast & Furious star attended a court hearing in his custody battle with his ex, Samantha Lee, in Atlanta on Tuesday (April 25) where he was found in contempt of court for failing to pay the $10,000 per month of alimony that he was ordered to cough up last August.

According to TMZ, Tyrese argued on the stand that the monthly amount was excessive because Lee would earn a substantial income herself.

The Alter Ego singers’ protest fell flat as Judge Kevin Farmer ultimately ordered him to pay $237,944 in child support payments to his ex-wife with whom he shares a four-year-old daughter named Soraya. and $399,000 for Samanthas. attorney’s fees.

The judge acknowledged that Tyrese had paid child support throughout that time, albeit a significantly lower sum of $2,236 per month. The $237,000 is the monthly difference he owes, plus interest.

Tyrese was also asked to pay a $17,000 bill for the special master in the case, a junior official appointed by a judge to ensure court orders are followed.

The actor/singer has until May 15 to pay approximately $258,000 of the amount owed. His attorney, Tanya Mitchell Graham, said that date may be pushed back as she plans to appeal. She has also filed a motion for a new trial to be heard next month.

After the hearing, Tyrese released a statement to The Shade Room challenging the judges’ decision, citing the nearly $150,000 a year his ex-wife would earn.

Everything will be contested. My attorney, Tanya Mitchell Graham, said at least 30 things beyond the reach of the law were mishandled and downright egregious and illegal, he said.

Tyrese also claimed that Samantha originally paid $7,500 just to retain her lawyer more than two years ago and although she earns around $15,000 a month, nearly $150,000 a year, she found herself with two different law firms. [and] raised nearly $500,000 [in legal fees] and they never asked him for a penny more because they were betting on the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

After my attorney asked his attorney why did you represent Samantha for [free] for more than two years and she can clearly afford to pay her own legal fees, they both said: We really love her. People love me too, but not enough to defer over two years of legal fees without paying legal fees and make them wait over two years to get paid.

He added: The family law court system really sucks. It’s quite a process that we will use.

Tyrese also shared his disappointment with the result on Instagram, while addressing his supporters who showed up but were turned away at the courthouse after he called on black fathers to join him in prayer ahead of the hearing. .

That’s the whole process, right? Is anyone really surprised at the result? he wrote. I think about all the things today ALL the things moved me [heart]. Just want to say to all the fathers who showed up and were turned away for prayer today on the steps of the family courthouse in Fulton County.

I would have liked to see you. I’m so sorry if you spent money on gas and just wanted to show up and pray with me today, on behalf of all fathers, and the endless levels of injustice that continue to happen, we will call.

He continued: For all father advocacy groups, anyone who can represent me to put in place new laws that can go to Congress. I am ready with many other fathers who continue to be screwed over by the family law court system.

Change doesn’t come from sitting at home I feel bad for all the fathers who were turned away and not allowed to pray with me today But I appreciate you taking the time to to be there this morning.

Days before the hearing, Tyrese slammed Judge Farmer for being racist and allegedly calling his ex-wife a bitch in the private rooms of his office. He also accused the judge of illegally sealing his file in an attempt to hide his misconduct.

We tried to challenge him, we tried to get him kicked off the bench because of his conduct and his lack of professionalism. And then there were a bunch of things about the outcome of my case that he did that were literally illegal, he said in a lengthy video posted to Instagram.

The 44-year-old’s issues with the judge date back to last August, when the Fulton County lawyer threatened to hold him in contempt of court for arguing with his ex-wife’s attorney over his earnings.
