Racist Nazi graffiti in the condemned Rye Park, High Wycombe

Nazi swastikas have been left in Rye Park over the bank holiday weekend where families go to take their children to play.

A walker who came across the graffiti reacted in shock after the incident, which has been widely condemned.

Among those who struck at the symbol, scrawled on the parks playground equipment, was Councilor Clive Harriss, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure.

He said: “Scratching a children’s playground is bad enough; displaying a symbol that is now so closely linked to racism is utterly deplorable and we condemn this in the strongest possible terms.

“The Council is working hard to create large, inclusive community spaces in our parks, so we have made arrangements to have this removed as soon as possible.

A woman who came across the graffiti on Saturday morning (April 29) said she felt bad for the children to see it.

FloraSkouteri said: “Kids shouldn’t see this sign and think it’s okay in our world.

“As they get older, they should know all the pain and hatred that racism gives us and also how much some people have suffered from racist people.

“”Also for some people, it really brings painful and sad thoughts or experiences.

“This is no joke and should not be accepted.”
