Who is to blame for the May 9 uprising in Pakistan? Imran Khan points the finger at ‘agency men’

[ad_1]

Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan pointed the finger at anonymous “agency men” on Monday for the violent uprising that took place across Pakistan on May 9, the day of his arrest. In a clip shared on his official Twitter account, Khan said the perpetrators blamed the PTI as a way to justify the ongoing crackdown on political party leaders and supporters.

“We have enough evidence to present to any independent inquiry that the arson and, in some places, the shootings were committed by agency men who wanted to cause chaos and blame it on the PTI so that the current crackdown is justified,” he said in the video. .

Last week, the corps commander’s house in Lahore and several government buildings were attacked by being set on fire or vandalized. According to Khan, the acts were part of an “organized conspiracy” orchestrated by disbelievers who infiltrated the protests organized by the PTI.

Imran Khan calls for investigation into acts of vandalism

“I want an independent investigation [into the vandalism]..”, he demanded, continuing his story that this was a small part of a much larger plan he calls the “London Plan”. In a separate post on Twitter, the former prime minister also claimed that the PTI protesters had nothing to do with an attack on the Jinnah house.

He said instead, PTI Punjab chapter president Dr Yasmin Rashid and her sisters were “clearly telling the protesters not to damage” the property. “Obviously this was all being handled by those who wanted to use this as a pretext to continue the crackdown on PTI, imprison our workers and senior leaders with me so that the assurances given to NS [Nawaz Sharif] in the London plan could be honoured,” he claimed.
