This Morning presenters Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond have defended the show against claims of ‘toxicity’ as the row over Philip Schofield continues.

Schofield left the show last week after reports that he and Holly Willoughby had a falling out. Dr Ranj Singh, who has appeared on This Morning multiple times in 10 years, later released a statement detailing the show’s alleged “toxic” work culture.

“We happen to be in the news right now and of course we appreciate that, but just the two of us and the whole team here, the team, the guys down there, we love doing this show for all of you,” O said Leary.

Hammond commented, “We really do, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. We’re going to keep doing it.” She then introduced Gyles Brandreth for one of the show’s segments. Brandreth then said, “We’re very happy to be here. Can I say that too?”

He continued, “It’s actually a great place to work. I love coming and have been since I started.” Sonia Sodha, who was doing the segment with him, agreed.

It comes after Singh’s statement, which he posted on Twitter on Sunday. In it, he alleged that he had been “dropped” from the show after complaining to ITV executives about the alleged toxic work culture.

Schofield himself released his own statement rebutting those comments: “Now I’m no longer working on @thismorning, I’m free to say so. Hope you noticed it’s the same handful of people who resent it. me or the show who seem to have the loudest voice.”

“This Morning IS the best show to work on, with the best people. In all the years I worked there, there was zero toxicity.”

O’Leary and Hammond previously addressed Schofield’s exit after he left the show before details of Schofield’s affair were revealed. ITV claimed to have investigated the matter while Willoughby released his own statement commenting on it.
