Odia singer faces harassment allegation by Cuttack woman

Bhubaneswar: A Cuttack woman has filed harassment allegations against Odia singer Sourin Bhatt, a source has said.

According to the source, the complainant who works in a private bank first filed an FIR at Mahila Police Station in Cuttack.

The source said the complainant had filed allegations of both physical and mental exploitation.

The woman had come into contact with Sourin in 2015. The complainant alleged that Sourin exploited her under the guise of making her a singer and making a breakthrough in playback singing.

On the other hand, Sourin could not be contacted about the allegations.

Crimes against women in the entertainment industry hit the headlines recently after Odia film producer Sanjay Nayak was accused of couch throwing by actress Prakruti Mishra and a few other actresses .

Speaking to reporters, Nayak said he would file a defamation suit against Prakruti, fellow actress Jasmine Rath and the news channel that aired their statement against him.

Later in the controversy, a case was filed against Nayak following an FIR by Prakruti at a Mumbai police station. Prakruti filed the FIR against Nayak alleging that her statements in the past defamed her and her family.
