Hunter Biden’s prosecutor knew about corruption allegation

The federal prosecutor overseeing Hunter Biden’s plea deal that did not result in jail time was aware of the FBI form that alleged a foreign national bribed President Joe Biden when he was vice president, according to a letter Wednesday from the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee. .

Senator Lindsey Graham, RS.C., sent separate letters to Attorney General Merrick Garland and U.S. Attorney David Weiss for the District of Delaware, regarding the IRS whistleblower allegations, and Form FD- 1023 stating an executive of Ukrainian energy company Burisma paid two $5 million bribes to Joe and Hunter Biden.

I have been informed that you and your office have been made aware of allegations in an FD-1023 form suggesting that there may have been recorded phone calls between Hunter Biden and Joe Biden with a senior official of Burisma Holdings, a company of Ukrainian energy,” Graham said in a letter to Weiss.

“The FD-1023 in question alleges that the confidential informant told the Justice Department and the FBI that such tapes might exist,” the senator continued. “Were you in fact briefed on these allegations by US Attorney Scott Brady or anyone else? If so, what steps were taken to investigate this case and what was the final decision? »

An IRS whistleblower, Gary Shapley, told the House Ways and Means Committee that Weiss requested to be a special counsel, believing charges could be brought against Hunter Biden in Washington, DC and California. However, the whistleblower says Garland objected.

“They also state that efforts to bring stronger cases to Washington, DC and California have been rejected. These allegations are corroborated by a contemporaneous email. It is imperative that these allegations be addressed head-on,” Graham’s letter reads.

This is the first acknowledgment or reference that federal prosecutors investigating Hunter Biden were aware of the corruption allegation.

As a member of the minority party, Graham has no power of subpoena. But in the House, where Republicans have the majority, the House Ways and Means Committee as well as the House Oversight and Accountability Committee are investigating the matter.
