A second person makes allegations against the BBC star

A second person has made allegations against an unnamed BBC star.

The individual, who is in his early 20s, said he was contacted by the presenter on a dating app and the star pressured them to meet him.

The pair have never met and after hinting they would name him online, they received what the BBC describes as a number of threatening messages.

The BBC said it verified the messages came from the presenter’s phone and asked him for comment via his lawyer.

Initial claims

The misconduct allegations against the presenter first became public knowledge last week when The Sun published allegations that he paid a teenager for explicit photographs.

The BBC then suspended the individual – but the youngster in question has since described the allegations as rubbish made up by his mother.

The Sun said it had evidence to back up its claims.

The Metropolitan Police said further inquiries were underway to determine if there was evidence of a criminal offence.”

Social media users are advised not to risk defamation by speculating on the identity of presenters.

You’re putting that person’s reputation completely on the line,” media law attorney Christina Michalos told Newstalk.

And anyone identified can sue anyone – if not them – for defamation.
