Stranger Things uses cast iron evidence to destroy common criticism

[ad_1]

The cast of Stranger Things might seem too old to play the ages they portray by today’s standards, but the show’s writers are pretty sure they’ll still be able to transition into their teens.

The time between the start and end of the hit Netflix show is only supposed to be around three years, however, by the time it’s over, it will have been closer to ten years since the first season aired. fell on the streaming platform. We’ve seen the cast go from literal kids to adults around this time.

However, the problem is that they look too old to play the roles they are supposed to play now. For example, Millie Bobby Brown is 19, but she’s supposed to play a 15-year-old. The same goes for the rest of the cast who are all around 20 to 21 years old. Surely they’re too old to represent high school students, right?

Well, the writers don’t think so. In fact, the Stranger Things writing room account shared actual footage of teenagers at school in the ’80s to prove their point.

As well as being an interesting look at a bygone era. There’s no denying that the kids just looked older back then. Maybe it’s the hair? Maybe it’s being alive in a time when Reaganomics was a thing? Who knows, but it’s safe to say that some twenty-somethings could easily pass for kids at this school. In fact, a few of these kids look like the kind of kids Eddie would hang out with.

Fans pretty much agreed that the tweet certainly made a good point. Many have actually praised the series for being better than the rest when it comes to high school portrayals:

“ST people are like people I went to school with! But then again, I’m Eddie’s age – if he was a real person and had graduated HS in the 80s.”

“If people can accept the Demogorgons, I’m sure they can accept that the children are a little older […] and also your so real for this tweet haha”

“Oh, I missed the ‘our’. […] I thought it was about all the shows. Stranger Things is way better in most shows on this.

For the most part, the actors being too old for their characters didn’t really have a negative impact on the story. As the pictures show, they still appear to be the age they represent. Also, most of the writers on the show are Gen X, so they were kids in the eighties. If anyone knows what a high school was like back then, it would be the screenwriters.
