Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm sold her stakes in electric bus maker Proterra this week, the DOE confirmed to POLITICO on Wednesday, following criticism from Republicans that she could profit from the push for the administration for electric vehicles.

The details: Granholm wiped out all of its Proterra stakes from sales on Monday, giving it net capital gains of $ 1.6 million, the DOE said. The move fulfills the last of its obligations under its ethics agreement three months before an August deadline. She had been a member of the company’s board of directors, but resigned before becoming secretary.

Granholm’s holdings in the company have become a flashpoint for critics after President Joe Biden conducted a virtual tour of a Proterra facility last month as part of its electric vehicle push. Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), The top Republican on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, shortly after asked the DOE Inspector General to investigate whether the secretary had any conflicts over potential interests, and Rep. Ralph Norman (RS.C.) urged her on this as well.
