COUNTRYFILE fans remained livid after a presenter blamed the slaughter of lambs on BREXIT in a baffling report.

On Sunday’s edition of the BBC show, presenter Adam Henson shared his thoughts on how Britain leaving the EU would affect its lambs and the price he could get for them.

Adam explained how some of the lambs born on the lambing special were now four months old and ready for the market.

He said: “I don’t think I’ve spoken positively about the price of lamb yet. But this year is the highest I have ever had.

He then explained that it costs 75 to raise a lamb from birth until it is ready for the market, and a few years ago they only got 60 per animal.

He said: “Like me, a lot of farmers were really worried about trade deals when we left Europe.

We thought there would be tariffs on exports and that meant the price of lamb would have dropped. “

Although he was wrong about it, Brexit still had an impact on his lambs.

He said: “Fortunately our government was able to conduct the negotiations, there were no tariffs and the price remained high.

But, because of this concern, I got rid of my lambs before the end of December and I also decided to reduce my herd by a third.

However, viewers weren’t impressed with his segment, with one writing on Twitter: “Countryfile hitting the pro-Brexit drum is pretty dubious. He’s the spokesperson for the industry, isn’t he?

Another added: ‘Why are they promoting eco-friendly processes when they just talked about killing a bloody lamb over Brexit?

A third tweeted: “This show can talk about the benefits of helping wildlife and going vegan, then talk about killing lambs because of Brexit.”
