The top official in the world’s cricket governing body has quit his post following allegations of misconduct.
The International Cricket Council announced Thursday that Manu Sawhney, chief executive of the organization since April 2019, is leaving with immediate effect.
Sawhney was reportedly suspended in March after allegations against him emerged following an internal review by accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The ICC was not officially revealing why Sawhney left, saying only that Geoff Allardice was serving as interim CEO.
Sawhney, who replaced David Richardson as CEO, had the same role at the Singapore Sports Hub sports and entertainment group and was previously Managing Director of ESPN Star Sports.
A report on espncricinfo.com said the bullying was among the charges against Sawhney, which he strongly denied.
The website reported that Sawhney felt it was a premeditated witch hunt by the ICC and a blatant attempt to force me out of office.
