The allegations come amid a federal investigation into the Mountain View High School for racial harassment, retaliation and denial of benefits. This separate investigation, conducted by the United States Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights, stems from complaints from parents of students on the Mountain View High School football team.

The October 26 incident, however, involved a volleyball game between Timpview and Mountain View.

“It finally got to the point where she finally had to stop the game. Specifically indicate to the coach that what he was doing was wrong. And she left in tears, and one of our Timpview coaches had to help her off the pitch, ”said mother Nimo Leauanae.

“The mental aspect was huge for her. And it still affects him to this day. So I think it’s important for the school and the school district to realize that it was not just about play, which they said, but it was about much more than good- to be mental of a teenager, ”added Leauanae.

The parents formally requested internal documents about the Mountain View High School coach investigation, but their request was denied by the Alpine School District.

In January, the principal of Mountain View High School emailed the girl’s mother, which read in part: “I’m personally sorry she’s still struggling with this. I’m sorry she has to go through this ordeal at such a young age.

The Principle Mike Ericksen continued: “I assure you that we have thoroughly investigated the incident”, and later wrote, “Appropriate administrative measures have been taken”.

But the girl’s mother still had no answers to the investigation or details of this “appropriate administrative action”.

On Thursday, her appeal was taken to the State Records Committee, which ruled that the internal investigation into the case should be left to the family.

An Alpine School District spokesperson sent ABC4 this email:

“When the Alpine School District became aware of the incident, an investigation was conducted and appropriate action was taken. We are aware of a request for information and will comply with today’s ruling. “
