Birmingham Phoenix rose to the top of the men’s top 100 table after comfortably beating their rival Trent Rockets at Trent Bridge.
Liam Livingstone hit 50 balls out of 30 balls and Miles Hammond also made a quick fire 38 out of 20 when Phoenix released 166-6.
Debutant Dillon Pennington, who finished 2-11 out of 15 editions, took two goals when the Rockets dropped to 28-3 in response.
Steven Mullaney, who previously took a big catch at the border to abandon Livingstone, hit 49 of 33 deliveries to give his side a chance before he fell to Pat Brown, the Phoenix bowlers ’choice 3-27.
Phoenix overtook Southern Brave in first, while the Rockets remained third.
Livingstone ignites the Midlands Derby
On Thursday we were treated with a hundred first team score 200.
And for a moment it looked like we could head again to that landmark with Phoenix 90-1 after 55 balls.
The Rockets may have pulled their rivals back, but the knockout that won Liam Livingstone’s match turned out to be the difference.

Pennington’s memorable debut
The Hundred is the perfect platform for young players to make their name, and one cricketer who declared himself on the big stage was 22-year-old Dillon Pennington.
The first victim of the Shropshire-born seamstress was one of the most explosive white ball cricketers in domestic cricket, Alex Hales, and his second was the world’s best-placed Twenty20 batsman, Englishman Dawid Malan.
Pennington bowled a ball of perfect line and length that cut the top of Hale’s stump.
Two balls later he had Mala’s edge behind for the duck.
Not a bad introduction to the competition …
