Geno Smith’s NFL career timeline from Jets sketch to vacuum and Seahawks backup

Geno Smith finally gets a new chance to start an NFL franchise, this time on behalf of Russell Wilson, who was injured by the Seahawks. If his remake vs. Rams was any sign, jump aboard as it becomes a fun journey.

The Seahawks lost their matches against the division’s rivals 26-17, but Smith played well in relief, threw a touch and got the energy for the “12th man” in Seattle.

Overall, the West Virginia passer-by has had a less successful career, but has settled beautifully with the Seahawks in a few years with the Giants and Chargers. Now, veteran QB has a chance to turn the NFL world on its head if he can reclaim some of the mojos he had in Week 5 and earlier in his career.

Geno Smith’s career timeline

April 26, 2013:Geno Smith is the second quarterback in the 2013 NFL Draft and will go to New York Jets in 39th place. The selection marks the end of Mark Sanchez’s era, leading to successive AFC championship games in 2009 and 2010.

September 9, 2013:Smith begins his career for the first time after Sanchez rehabilitates a shoulder injury he suffered during his pre-season. Sanchez later underwent surgery and left the entire season in 2013, ending his career at the Jets.

In the beginning, Smith throws a touch at Kellen Winslow and an abduction, and the Nick Folk kick, which runs out, gives the Jets a victory and Smith the first victory of his career. It also gave the NFL world this iconic moment, now in Gif format:

October 20, 2013:GGG-Geno and the Jets make it incomprehensible: Rookie QB leads the Jets to win the Patriots overtime and only joins Mark Sanchez, Colt McCoy and Ben Roethlisberger as beginners to beat Bill Belichick. It’s just over a week for Halloween. Scary things happen.

October 5, 2014:Geno’s up and down results with the Jets are largely the result of mediocre support legs and a lame duck head coach, but the Jets reach a low point in the era and get the Chargers 31-0.

The latest twist on the Geno drama: Before the game, Smith avoids a team meeting due to a change in time zones, which confuses the quarterback. Talk about poor clock management.

August 11, 2015:After a couple of mediocre seasons, the end of the Geno-Jets era begins with a beat: Defensive IK Enemkpali hits Smith’s square chin, breaks it, and leaves Smith aside for 6-10 weeks. Ryan Fitzpatrick will take his place in the most productive bypass of Jets history.

The dispute is believed to be over a $ 600 plane ticket that Enemkpali felt Smith owed him for attending a football camp. Smith had not participated due to the death of a close personal friend.

October 23, 2016:In his last appearance at the Jets, Smith has been named a beginner based on Ryan Fitzpatrick’s poor performances.

Unfortunately for Smith, he left the game while suffering a knee injury that turned out to be a torn ACL. He missed the rest of the season and abruptly ended his Mercurial Jets term.

March 28, 2017:Smith hadn’t yet taken a bite of the big apple when hemakes Crosstown move into the Giants, signing Big Blue to fill his QB room. He competes with third-round pick Davis Webb for clicks, and is eventually named behind QB2 Eli Manning.

December 12, 2017:Amidst the organizational drama around El Manning, head coach Ben McAdoo names Smith a beginner for Week 13 vs. Raiders. Smith starts Manning’s 210 match as the starting point for the tube.

The start is kind of historic: Smith gets called QB1, and the Giants are the last remaining NFL team to start a black defender.

Smith finished the game with 212 yards and a touch, but the Giants fell to the Raiders 24-17. He had two first-half twists that condemned the giants. That would be his last appearance in New York on both the team and the city.

April 1, 2018:Go west, young man: Smith leaves the ditch on the east coast and heads west, signing with the Chargers to back up Philip Rivers. He performed in five matches with the Chargers as a facilitating capacity during the season.

May 15, 2019:Smith signs a contract with Seahawks and deserves a backup for Russell Wilson. It’s a contract of the year. He signed the contract with Seahawks again in 2020 and again in 2021.

December 13, 2020:The long-awaited revenge game by Geno Smith: When Smith hasn’t appeared in the game in over a year, he takes relief from Wilson. The Seahawks are definitely fighting Adam Gase Jets 40-3, and Smith makes 4/5 passes with 33 yards in the win.

October 10, 2021:Smith gets a new chance with the Seahawks this time longer than just the series. When Wilson left the game with a finger injury, Smith electrifies the attack and throws a touch of the acclaimed Rams defense. October 17, 2021:For the first time in four years, Smith has the opportunity to embark on an NFL franchise where the Steelers will perform in Sunday night football. What a time to be alive.
