Revealed: Fox News hosts, Donald Trump Jr. bombed Mark Meadows during the riots at the Capitol

Three Fox News hosts sent desperate texts to Mark Meadows, Donald Trump’s White House Chief of Staff, begging him to let Trump stop the mess at the Capitol on Jan. 6 while it was happening.

The texts, which were read aloud at a committee hearing on Jan. 6 by Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., Was made public late Monday as part of the panel’s investigation into the riot. This week, the committee narrowed Meadows ’lead communications to Jan. 6 with various Trump allies. On Friday, the panel voted to recommend that Meadows be charged in contempt of Congress for refusing to cooperate with its investigation.

Among those who sent desperate texts to Meadows were Laura Ingraham, host of the nighttime show “The Ingraham Angle”; Sean Hannity, the host of “The Sean Hannity Show”; and Brian Kilmeade, a host of “Fox & Friends.” All three sent direct texts to Meadows asking him to encourage the former president to neutralize the unrest.

“Mark, the president needs to tell the people in the Capitol to go home,” Ingraham wrote to Trump aide. “This is hurting all of us. He’s destroying his legacy.”

“Can he give a statement?” Hannity echoed in a separate message. “Ask the people to leave the Capitol.”

Kilmeade asked Meadows if he could “take [Trump] on TV, “added that the insurrection” destroys everything you’ve done. “

According to the panel’s investigation, even Donald Trump Jr. shared the concerns of Fox News hosts.

“He’s got to condemn this shit ASAP. The Capitol Police tweet is not enough,” Don Jr. said. told Meadows. “We need an Oval Office address. He needs to leave now. It’s too far away and he’s lost his hand,” the president’s son replied.

Ingraham’s texts, The New York Times notes, flew in the face of the host’s subsequent statements about the election and the ensuing turmoil. For example, Ingraham unfoundedly floated the notion that antifa agitators were among the rioters and cited “legitimate concerns” about how the election was being conducted. In a radio broadcast, Hannity also vaguely identified the possible infiltration of the antifa, suggesting that “he heard these reports that [antifa] maybe even wear MAGA gear. “

On Monday, Meadows appeared in a Fox News interview with Hannity to air her grievances over the panel’s Jan. 6 contempt recommendation.

“Let’s be clear about this, this is not about me, hold me in contempt. It’s not even about making the Capitol safe,” he told Hannity. “We saw that through the select leaks that are happening right now. It’s about Donald Trump and about actually chasing him again.”

Conveniently, text exchanges between Meadows and Hannity were not mentioned once during the broadcast, Justin Baragona of The Daily Beast said.

The newly unearthed texts are likely just a fragment of a vast trove of communications currently under federal review.

Earlier this week, the House committee released an email in which Meadows promised an unnamed recipient that the National Guard was on standby to “protect pro-Trump people.” Meadows also recently gave a 38-page powerpoint presentation outlining a comprehensive plan to overturn the 2020 election.
