Quinnen Williams’ teammate took down Aaron Donald-Chris Jones

Quinnen Williams aims to be the best defensive tackle in the NFL. A teammate of his in the New York Jets’ front four firmly believes Williams will achieve that goal.

In fact, John Franklin-Myers took down two of the biggest names in the game when discussing the level Williams could reach as he enters his fifth season in the League.

Quinnen has the ability and eventually, this year or next year, will pass to AD (Aaron Donald), Chris Jones, Franklin-Myers said Sunday. He got the mindset to say, I’ll be the first best. Not everyone counts him as the best defensive tackle. But he will show it.

Williams had a breakout season in 2022. The 25-year-old had 12 sacks and 59 QB pressures in 16 games. He was named All-Pro, selected to the Pro Bowl and received a first-place vote as NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

All that success helped Williams earn a massive contract extension with the Jets. Williams signed a four-year, $96 million deal ($66 million guaranteed) shortly before training camp to become the second-highest paid DT in the NFL, behind Donald.

“I definitely feel like I’m not living up to what I can be,” Williams said last week.

Franklin-Myers said Williams is special in how he ties up multiple offensive linemen and still makes big plays all over the field.

If I shoot down the field, he’ll wrap around me and run down the play on the other side, the defensive end explained. Things that no one else does. You can look at any defensive tackle in the NFL and they don’t do that.

It’s now up to Williams to show off last season’s build and take the next step to become the No. 1 DT.
