The Open 2021: Donald Trump makes his latest case for an open return to Turnberry | Golf News and Tour Information

[ad_1]

Tomorrow has not returned to Turnberry since Stewart Cink defeated Tom Watson in a playoff there in 2009. A return is not expected any time soon. R&A has named Open venues until 2024, and the Turnberry that Donald Trump bought in 2014 is not on that list.

R&A reaffirmed their plan not to return to Turnberrysaying in a statement six days after the U.S. Capitol stormed that it would not return for the foreseeable future until the decided body is convinced the focus is on the championship, players and course itself and we do not believe that can be achieved in the current circumstances.

Here is the statement (in the tweet below):

The PGA of America moves to next year’s PGA Championship from Trump Bedminster in New Jersey to the Southern Hills after January events in Washington, DC

Trump Turnberry hosted the Womens British Open in 2015 when he hosted the Ladies Golf Union championship. The LGU has joined the R&A, so the female major is not expected to return to Turnberry anytime soon.
