The Next 2021 Men’s Style Trends Got Us Hot Under The Collar

After a few pretty quiet months (hell, years at this stage) thanks to Spicy Cough, it looks like we’re finally back in the swing of things when it comes to major arts and cultural events – overseas at least.

The return of the red carpet is also getting celebrities back in shape when it comes to their fashion exploits. In the last two weeks alone we’ve had the Venice International Film Festival, the Met Gala, the MTV VMAs and New York Fashion Week, all of which have seen some really interesting celebrity outfits.

One trend really stands out in particular – men wearing skirts and dresses – but it’s not the only men’s fashion trend we’ve seen pop up in recent weeks. Somewhat under the radar but no less radical, there seems to be all of this with male celebrities wearing shirtless leather jackets.

Some of the celebrities caught endorsing this look include rising Australian hip-hop stars The Kid Laroi, Shawn Mendes and Machine Gun Kelly… Is this just some kind of new ‘rock and roll’, or is there something in it?

Of course, there is a long and proud history of male musicians removing their tarps as part of their signature performance. Iggy Pop’s been doing it since the ’70s (he permanent did so, despite the fact he pushed 80 – crazy respect). Other shirt-phobic players include Billy Idol, Anthony Kiedis, Sid Vicious, Morrissey and 2Pac.

However, we don’t see this trend really taking off, especially as we enter warmer weather. Leather jacket is quite sticky when you wear a shirt but on bare skin? That’s madness.
