Julia Bradbury: TV presenter ‘relaxed’ after mastectomy due to breast cancer | UK news

Former Countryfile host Julia Bradbury revealed that she completed a mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The 51-year-old tweeted a photo from her hospital bed.

She said she was “overwhelmed” before the operation and was “sad that such a brutal measure is necessary”.

But, she added, “Now I feel comfortable.”

The anxiety that led to the mastectomy was overwhelming. Now I am relieved, I am sad that such a brutal measure is necessary in so many cases of breast cancer, but I have chosen life, and I will follow Walt Whitman’s words: Keep your face always towards the sun and the shadows will recede behind you. .twitter.com/7j5PNmdyMg

Bradbury said she will have to wear a specially designed bra for the next six weeks to protect her body after the procedure.

The presenter also sent a message of support to others afflicted with the disease: “To all the warrior women (and men) out there, send my love.”

She’s received streaming support on social media, including from many other people who have had breast cancer.

Eleanor Thompson wrote: “I wish you a smooth recovery – emotional and physical. It is brutal, no doubt, but you will find new and unexpected strength along the way.”

A mother-of-three revealed last month that she would have surgery after the cancer showed up on a mammogram.

On Friday, she posted a picture of her body preparing for a mastectomy.

Goodbye left boob thank you. I breastfed my children with you, I jumped into the sea, I walked thousands of miles with you. Now is the time for something new. “The wise man tastes the future with some salt from the past.” Check it out # BreastCancerAwarenessMonth pic.twitter.com/JlKY1wXS5L

She tweeted, “Goodbye left-handed moron. Thank you. I’ve breastfed my kids with you, I’ve jumped into the sea, I’ve walked thousands of miles with you.”

“Now is the time for something new. A sage is someone who savors the future with some salt from the past.”

Bradbury encouraged her followers to get themselves screened for breast cancer, highlighting that “one person every 10 minutes” is diagnosed in the UK.
