Costa Ricans arrives in Tokyo for Paralympics:

Some of Costa Rica’s top athletes have arrived in Tokyo for the 2020 Paralympics.

Diego Quesada (archery), Sherman Gity (athletics), Melissa Calvo (athletics) and Jos Pablo Gil (tennis) arrived at the Paralympic village over the weekend.

“Tired but happy, we are here to fulfill a big dream and give our best,” said Jos Pablo Gil after landing in Japan.

The Tokyo 2020 Paralympics begin on Tuesday, with the first Tico competing against Steven Romn (table tennis) on Wednesday, August 25th.

Below are Costa Rica’s representatives at the 2020 Paralympics, as previously announced by the National Olympic Committee:

  • Cycling: Henry Raabe.
  • Athletics: Sherman Guity, Melissa Calvo and Ernesto Fonseca.
  • Taekwondo: Andrs Molina.
  • Table tennis : Steven Romn.
  • Swimming : Camila Hasse.
  • Tennis: Jos Pablo Gil

The Paralympics will be played from August 24 to September 5.

Earlier this month, Costa Rica decided to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. While it didn’t win medals, it made history: for the first time, its delegation ranked four athletes in the top ten.
