Kingston won the crown of the 14th consecutive section – the Daily Freeman

KYSERIKE, NY – Kingston High continued his field hockey power on Thursday, Oct. 28, winning the Section 9, Class A championship for the 14th time in a row, beating Pine Bush 6-0.

After an undefeated opening quarter, the Tigers scored two goals in the second, third and fourth periods.

Emily Beichert scored two goals and Adelaide Finley added a goal and one pass leading to Kingston.

Niara Franklin and Keeley Savona scored in the second quarter. Beichert and Hannah Timbrouck followed in third and Finley and Beichert capped in fourth.

When Kingston’s defense prevented Pine Bush from getting a grip, Tigers goalkeeper Kara Houston was off the board and didn’t fight any.

“Kingston has made changes to its practice in its ranking and it has paid off,” Kingston coach Kristy Nissen said.

“Pine Bush has many skilled players. In the regular season, it was a tight game, Nissen noted. “The Kingston girls have worked hard in rehearsals to make better moves and push more aggressively. Our attack played skillfully tonight and it was great to see.

Grace Grant fought Pine Bush 22 times.

Kingston will play with the Group 1 champion in the regional final at 3pm on November 7 at Rondout.

Taconic Hills 1, Pine Plains 0

Marilyn Roque-Velasquez scored from the penalty spot with 29.5 seconds left in the second extra time, with Taconic Hills winning. Ava Skabowski helped.

“What an amazing battle between the two teams.” Taconic coach Angela Webster said. “It was both impressive and exciting to watch. Both teams deserve recognition for their efforts.

The goalkeepers made an excellent effort. Grace Alvarez defeated six Taconic and Alyssa Bathrick 10 defeated Pine Plains.

Taconic will play with the Group 1 champion in the regional final at 12.30 on November 7 in Rondout.
