Delhi HC will appoint a 3-member committee to investigate the complaint of paddler Manika Batra

New Delhi [India]November 17 (ANI): On Wednesday, the Delhi Supreme Court appointed a three-member committee to investigate the country’s star paddler Manika Batra’s complaint against the Indian National Sports Organization Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).
Judge Rekha Palli ordered the committee to issue an interim report within four weeks. The court also clarified that the committee is free to adopt its own procedure for examining a tennis player’s complaint.
The case was listed by the court on December 20 for further consideration.
The direction came after hearing the petition filed by Manika Batra against TTFI.
Meanwhile, TTFI has told the Delhi Supreme Court that it withdrew the cause of action against Manika Batra.
The court also ordered the TTFI to notify the International Table Tennis Federation of the cancellation of the show, and if they receive any correspondence from the International Federation, the TTFI will evaluate it with a designated committee.
At the last hearing, the Delhi Supreme Court had suggested that the TTFI give a clear speech to Manika Batra, stating that there was no abuse on her part.
The court’s remark came when it was informed that the TTFI had turned to the International Table Tennis Association (ITTF) under the leadership of Manika Batra and that the ITTF was conducting a parallel investigation against him.
The court had said it would investigate this aspect once the correspondence was recorded.

The court had also withdrawn the TTFI from sending a letter about Batra to the ITTF shortly after the court had temporarily imposed the TTFI rules on September 23, which required players to participate in a national camp for the selection of international events.
The court’s remark came after hearing Batra’s application, in which he asked for a copy of the investigation report of the investigation carried out in accordance with the order of 23 September.
Manika Batra was represented by senior lawyer Sachin Dutta and lawyer Akshay Amritanshu.
The petitioner claimed that although the investigation was initiated at the request of the applicant and the principles of natural law require that a copy of the investigation report be provided to the applicant, it has not been provided.
The petitioner claimed that after receiving the notification from the committee of inquiry, the petitioner and his lawyer practically appeared before the committee of inquiry on 5 October and lodged their complaint.
The petitioner also submitted his written observations and documentary evidence to the Board of Inquiry on 7 October 2021. However, the petitioner has not heard from the Board of Inquiry since then.
On 23 September, the Delhi Supreme Court had given the committee of inquiry four weeks to complete its investigation. The petition stated that it had expired on 21 October 2021 and that the petitioner had not heard from the committee of inquiry since then.
On 23 September, the Delhi Supreme Court ordered a temporary stay under the rules of the Indian Table Tennis Association, which made it compulsory for players to attend a national camp for the selection of international events.
Table tennis player Manika Batra has previously appealed against TTIF’s decision not to include him in the Asian Championships.
The court had expressed pain to the Table Tennis Association about drafting the rules and told what was the rush to draft these new rules.
Senior lawyer Sachin Dutta, who spoke on behalf of petitioner Batra, had previously told the court about a past case of how national team coach Soumyadeep Roy had put pressure on petitioner to throw the match away just to help one of his trainees at his private academy for the 2020 Olympics.
