6 Moroccan tennis players were banned for match-fixing

Six Moroccan tennis players, four of whom played in the Davis Cup, have been banned from the match-fixing investigation, the International Tennis Integrity Unit said on Tuesday.

The hearing found that the six players “committed several violations and several match-fixing charges, including repairing parts of matches, receiving money for repairs, and failing to report corruption,” ITIA said in a statement.

“The ITIA investigation found that the players’ crimes were related and have therefore been the subject of a joint consultation, ”it said.

ITIA did not say which competitions were affected.

Amine Ahouda, Anas Chakrouni, Ayoub Chakrouni, Mohamed Zakaria Khalil, Soufiane El Mesbahi and Yassir Kilani were identified as players. Their non-compete ranged from nine years to Ayoub Chakroun’s lifelong ban.

Davis Cup records show that Ahouda, Ayoub Chakrouni, El Mesbahi and Kilani were all on the Moroccan team at different times in 2014-2019. Ahouda’s career high ranking, 668th, is the highest of all six players.
