Czech women’s tennis player Renata Voracova flew from Australia’s Melbourne airport on Saturday after her visa was revoked due to her Covid-19 vaccine testing, a government source said. Voracova, 38, had been held at the same Melbourne immigration center in Serbian tennis with Novak. Djokovic, who is fighting to have his visa revoked. A photo and video of the AFP showed that a Czech player originally planning to go to the Australian Open was driven out of the detention center earlier in the day. He flew. left Melbourne late Saturday night, the source said.
In addition to Djokovic, the Australian Border Authority said it had examined the visas of two people joining the Australian Open.
Although they have not been identified by the Australian border forces, the Czech government has confirmed that Voracova was one of those arrested. The other person is said to be an official involved in the tournament.
“The Australian Border Agency’s investigation into the visa status of two other people joining the Australian Open has ended,” the border authority said in a statement issued late Saturday.
“ABF can confirm that both individuals have now left Australia voluntarily.”
Unvaccinated against Covid-19, Voracova was initially allowed to participate in an exemption granted by Tennis Australia to play in the Australian Open after recovering from the disease late last year.
