Spiders Named Scholar All-America Team by CSCAA

Richmond, Va.The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) selected 731 teams from 441 institutions to the Scholar All-America Team for the Spring 2022 semester, with the University of Richmond swimming and diving program making the list. Teams were selected on the basis of their Spring 2022 grade point averages and represent 17,845 student-athletes.

“The Spider swimming & diving programs embrace a culture of excellence. This is evident by their consistent rate of improvement in the water and their level of achievement in the Classroom,” said the CSCAA Executive Director.

The Spiders carried a 3.69 GPA in the spring semester. During the season, Richmond finished third at the Atlantic 10 Championships where it took home eight medals; two gold (200 Medley relay, 200 free relay), two silver (100 free, 200 fly) and four Bronze (400 Medley relay, 200 free, 50 free, 800 free relay). The team also set a school record in the 800 free relay, broke two ECACmeet records in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay and Abby Fuller swam the program’s freshman record in the 50 free. During the course season, 18 marks swam by Spiders were good enough to land on the program’s top 10 lists.

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) is the nation’s first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the Epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
