SIOUX FALLS, SD Four student-athletes on the North Dakota State women’s track and field team were voted to the Summit League Academic All-League team announced today for the 2023 indoor season.
Christie Collins, Grace Emineth, Alissa Melvin and Sofia Naranjo Mata all earned the honor due to their athletic and academic achievements.
Collins (Thunder Bay, Ontario) holds a 4.0 cumulative GPA as a biological sciences major. He finished sixth in the league in the 200-meter dash and seventh in the long jump this season, and finished in the top 12 in the 60-meter dash.
Emineth (Fargo, ND) was named the Summit League Indoor Championships Field MVP after winning the long jump and finishing third in the triple jump. He finished 64th in the NCAA in the long jump this season and has a 3.75 cumulative GPA as a pharmacy major.
Melvin (Waterloo, Ontario) is a political science major with a cumulative GPA of 3.92. She posted the second-best triple jump by a Summit League athlete this season with a mark of 40-03.25 (12.27m) and ranked eighth in school history in the indoor triple jump.
Naranjo Mata (River Falls, Wis.) holds a 3.97 cumulative GPA as an architecture major. He was part of the Bison medley relay that won the Summit League title and recorded a personal-best 400-meter time of 57.19.
To be eligible for the Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.00 scale), complete at least one full academic year at a current institution and participate in 50 percent of his team’s contests. The sports representatives and sports information directors of the faculties of educational institutions vote for the award.
