The man has been found guilty of crushing a world-famous retired musician with a cricket bat in his garden.
87-year-old Rosemary Hill suffered a skull fracture and severe brain damage when neighbor Guy Unmack attacked him, picking herbs outside his home in Reigate, Surrey.
Mrs Hill, a former graduate student at the Royal College of Music and an internationally acclaimed clarinetist, died at the hospital four days after the attack in June last year.
Doctors were unable to surgery the mother of three because of the severity of her injury.
He was given palliative care and died at St George’s Hospital in Tooting on 25 June.
Mrs. Hill had traveled around the world with orchestras before setting up to teach Sir Keir Starmer’s alma mater, Reigate High School, for more than 20 years.
Witnesses told the court that Unmackhad had shouted “kill, kill, kill” “outside his house as the attack progressed and showed a drink regularly from early morning trips to the supermarket
