San Francisco 49ers George Kittle says tight heads do “everything” deserving respect

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – San Francisco 49ers tight George Kittle feels it’s time to respect his position. That’s why he wanted to collect 49 NFL tight heads together for this week’s Tight End University.

The program, which Kittle will run in conjunction with Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce and former tight end Greg Olsen, began Wednesday and will continue through Friday in Nashville.

“100% does,” Kittle told ESPN when asked if he was bothered by the underestimation of his position. “I think TE is the most unique and versatile position. It’s the funniest position because it’s the only field where you get to do everything a football player does. You run a block, you pass a professional, you get to run routes and catch football. We do everything!”

Kittle said his position deserves a little more recognition given how players like him, Kelce and others have become the center of NFL crime.

A group of tight-lipped TEUs were allowed to share trade secrets, hoping together to help each other sharpen their playability. The summit offered field exercises, film study sessions and some evening activities.

“I greatly believe that you surround yourself with good people, which brings the best benefit to you. We share our strategy with friends. The way you think about the game. All of this is to a tight end. Take a step forward. I’m excited to have so many friends,” Kittle said.
