Jim Harbaugh talks about the Michigans RB tour

There are several starting points on Michigan’s football list that will be fought in the fall. However, one unit where the pecking order appears solidified is going backwards.

At Big Ten Media Days, head coach Jim Harbaugh spoke about Michigans ’top three options behind Hassan Haskins, Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards.

Hassan and Blake, they are like running one and one back. We sat here today, these three are up there where it would be the type of three backrests. Relying mostly on Hassan and Blake, Harbaugh said. Donovans got a chance to hit the big ones. Likewise Blake and Hassan. I got the impression that it is very good.

Haskins was one of Michigans ’most consistent players last season (375 yards, 6 touches, 6.1 yards per stake in six games) and has a good balance of power, patience, speed, vision and an hard-to-achieve balance in the open field.

Harbaugh called Haskins a freak athlete with freak athleticism and strength.

He is without a doubt the best player on special teams, the most productive, he can play kickoff / kickoff return, punt / punt return. No matter how the play is (running) blocked, he gets at least one or two yards, Harbaugh said. If it is blocked to zero, he will likely get one yard. If it is blocked for two, he gets four, if it is blocked for four hell, he gets six. He is a real football player.

Harbaugh called Haskins as tough as possible and a player who could have become a professional this season, but returned to Michigan to end his collegiate career with a winning note. He got his back, our advantage, on our side, and he could have been called this year, Harbaugh said.

Corum, the second RB1, seems to have grown this winter and spring after the 2020 season, when he flashed glimpses of his explosiveness and versatility as a pass catcher.

Four-star freshman Donovan Edwards is someone who has already impressed his teammates with an explosiveness. According to Harbaugh, Edwards will be a mix right out the gate this season.

Donovan is going to be really good. He got such a competitive part of it. Donovan understands that it takes the whole team. Winning the championship requires the whole team. No one wins the championship unless there is a team. He speaks that team language as well as anyone I’ve been close to, Harbaugh said. He has been a blessing in this way. He won the championship, won one in West Bloom. He knows. He’s going to be in the mix, you see Donovan Edwards playing.
