Dr Crusher and Picard had a will-power relationship
Star Trek: The Next Generation has established an incredible chemistry between Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) and Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart). It was the epitome of their type of relationship. And while they’re still currently in the “won’t they” phase, fans are hoping a reunion on Stewart’s series, Star Trek: Picard, will offer a solution to the smoldering romance.
Although Gene Roddenberry established the possibility of a romance between the couple in the show’s bible, according to ScreenRant, he intended their relationship to be more difficult than it was. On the Enterprise, Crusher and Picard had a friendship based on mutual respect, but in Roddenberry’s bible, things between them were meant to be more awkward because Dr. Crusher still blamed Picard for the death of her husband, Jack Crusher. . This blame would serve to prevent them from becoming more than friends, even if that is.
Dr Crusher and Captain Picard never really had an argument
While the couple had moments of disagreement aboard the Enterprise, for the most part, they had a friendship that didn’t fit Roddenberry’s intention. And the episode “Attached” strengthened their bond. So if Crusher blamed Picard for her husband’s death, which happened on the Stargazer while Jack Crusher was under Captain Picard, we certainly didn’t see him on screen.
That being said, if Crusher made an appearance on Picard and reunited with his former captain, we might learn more about what really happened aboard the Stargazer and why Dr. Crusher is so reluctant to form a relationship. After all this time, the couple deserve a happy ending … or at least a happy resolution.
