Ole Miss won two wins, the first 15 best wins since 2010.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. On the first day of the Holiday Inn-University Plaza Invitational, hosted by Western Kentucky, Ole Miss took two wins and the first win among the top 15 teams since 2010, winning 3-1 UT Martin and 3-1. over No. 15 at the Western Kentucky EA Diddle Arena on Friday. The rebels continue their winning streak and open the 2021 season flawlessly 7-0.

MATCH ONE | OLE MISS 3, UT MARTIN 1

The series continued for a couple of rebels in the first match of the day, such as Anna Bair recorded his fourth match in a row with 10 pluses and a total of 18 kills Kylee McLaughlin he got over 30 assists in his fifth consecutive match when he finished with 38. Lauren Thompson played a career defense defensively, for a total of five blocks.

The rebels were slowly out of the gate to start the match and gave up an early 5-0 run to the path 5-1. It took the captain to reach the rebels, a Payton Brgoch kill by tying it to six. However, UT Martin continued in the second round to create a new lead of 11-7. In a short run and confronted by rebel kills, Ole Miss re-leveled the match 13-fold. The series continued to play back and forth in a total of 6 draws before the Skyhawk goal 5-0 gave them the first set 25-20.

Ole Miss came with a larger source of fire to start the second set in a 4-0 round and rise 5-2. Thompson continued his strongest match this season with his fourth loss and lifted Ole Miss by eight to 13-5. UT Martin worked to get it back, but the rebels were able to control the series as a whole and win the series conveniently, 25-12.

Bair continued his strong match from outside into the third set, hitting double-digit kills for Ole Miss to tie the series 3-all. Both teams played tight, and the series was tied for 11 tracks until Ole Miss broke it open in a 5-0 round, highlighted by two Bailee Middleton aces lead 19-12. The rebels were able to end the series in a 6-0 round, which Thompson led behind the line and won the series 3, 25-14.

Ole Miss took the momentum from three sets to four sets and continued the 7-0 lead 10-4. It was all rebellious throughout the series, hitting a powerful .588 clip. Ole Miss continued to dominate the remainder of the set 15-5, ending the set 25-9 and the match 3-1.

OVERVIEW TWO OLE MISS 3, NO. 15 WESTERN KENTUCKY 1

Ole Miss ended the day in a clean fight and went back and forth with No. 15 Western Kentucky. It was a show for middle inhibitors sophomores Brgoch and Sasha Ratliff began to combine 15 blocks and 31 kills. Outside, GG Carvacho added 12 kills when McLaughlin placed his bets with 48 assists. Defending Burgio recorded their third match this season with double-digit excavations and ended in a total of 17.

A 3-1 victory marked Ole Miss’s first victory over an AVCA Top-15 opponent since 2010, when Ole Miss won 12th place at LSU 3-0 in Oxford. The victory also made program history when the rebels defeated the top 15 opponents on the road for the first time. The win cut WKU’s 53-match regular season winning streak, which runs until September 2019.

After the early stages of the first set, the rebels quickly rose to a career of 5-0 and led 6-5. It was an aggressive battle with two teams battling back and forth through the first set before Western Kentucky took the lead in the series 19-16. Running 3-0 rebels allowed them to equalize the match with 19 before Ratliff’s killing followed by Bair’s fight. Ole Miss led 21-20. A WKU service error followed by Carvacho’s Fifth Kill set Ole Miss to a set point of 24-22. After the Be Miss error, McLaughlin sealed the set to the rebels by killing in the middle and taking a set of 25-23.

Both teams did not surrender as the match continued into the second round until Ole Miss began to heat up. The opposing rebel kills Ratliff and Bair led the team to an 8-5 lead. WKU fought back to tie the series again 11 times before the rebel defense showed their strength as Brgoch and Carvachon took to the fifth block of the team night to lead 14-12. Ole Miss continued to build 3-0 and rose 18-14 as Ratliff dominated the series with five kills. The rebels’ third ace, this time with one Riley Fischer gave Reb a five-point lead 22-17 as the setpoint approached. Despite the Hilltoppers challenge, Ole Miss blew up Carvacho’s killing, followed by McLaughlin’s ace as he closed the series again and made the match 25-20.

The rebels ’back row continued to reinforce the attack in the third set as Ole Miss was able to build the lead 8-6. WKU fought back, but Brgoch continued to anchor to rebel centers and rose 11-10 after his fifth round. It didn’t take long for the two teams to find each other equally, this time 19-fold. Carvacho shot him 10^thkills To take a single point lead of 20-19 before the WKU grabbed two straight. The Hilltoppers 4-2 run allowed them to pick up their first night, 25-22.

Outside the gate of the fourth batch, the rebels ’defense set the tone. Opposite blocks from McLaughlin and Ratliff raised Ole Miss 4-1. WKU 3-0 tightened the match and cut the rebels in the lead with one lead 6-5. Ole Miss was able to increase his lead to 10–6 before a 6–2 round of Hilltopper leveled the match again with 12 pieces. The run of the 4-0 rebels broke the situation and rose 17-13 by two Ratliff blocks. Ole Miss never gave up the end of the match when the rebel attack continued to fire rockets and continued 5-0 with five straight kills and led 23-16. The rebels gave up the final kill to WKU before Brgoch’s kills brought Ole Miss a set of 25-17 and a victory of 3-1.
